Kingdom Revelator Australia – Issue 61
While on earth Jesus showed great love for His mother Mary; so much so that while still on the cross, just before His death, He entrusted her to John, who is described in John’s Gospel, as His beloved disciple(John 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 21:7, 21:20). It is an indication of the love and respect Jesus had
for John that He would assign to him this very important role.
Mary had already been filled with the Holy Spirit from the time of the Annunciation and so it is not surprising that she was with the disciples in the Upper Room awaiting the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus had promised. Mary’s presence was an encouragement to the disciples who had gathered in a state of fear and anxiety following the harrowing experience of Jesus’ passion, death, resurrection and ascension. Mary’s presence and prayers helped the disciples prepare to receive the Holy Spirit.
I would exhort all of you to petition to Mary so that she may help us prepare for Pentecost.
Let’s pray – O Mother of God, help me to prepare my soul to receive the Holy Spirit. Open my heart and teach me to surrender my body, mind and soul completely to God. Rid me of the sin of pride and pray that all my past sins will be forgiven so that my soul will be purified and that I will be made whole so
that I can receive more fully at this Pentecost, the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Amen
