Kingdom Revelator Australia – Issue 67
The birth of Jesus was not accidental. God the Father promised Adam that He would send a Messiah. His birth was foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament. Advent is a time to reflect on the unending love of God for mankind. Christmas is not just about giving gifts, it’s a season of joy and love to spread
happiness all around us.
During this advent season, and especially through the Eucharistic celebration, we remember both Christ’s birth and His sacrifice for mankind. Christians never say that they ‘do’ or ‘carry out’ the Eucharist; rather they talk about celebrating it. The Eucharist symbolises the new covenant between God and His children. The old covenant was the one given by God to the Israelites when He freed them from slavery in Egypt, but the new covenant symbolises the freedom we, as His children, have from the slavery to sin and the promise of eternal life.
Christmas is all about the love and sacrifice of a loving God who sent His son into the world to suffer and die for us. During this advent, let’s take time to read the Gospel of Luke to make ourselves aware of what and who we are celebrating. Let’s grow more in our love towards God and to receive a special anointing from the saviour who became man for our sake. Let this Christmas be all about Jesus and His love for mankind.
