Kingdom Revelator Australia – Issue 47
We can all agree, there is something special about newness. After nine months of sickness, tears and pain, the first cry of a newborn baby changes everything. Within a fraction of a moment, there is suddenly nothing else in the world more spectacular than this tiny human being. This month, as we move into the season of spring, even nature unites itself to millions of Christians across the globe rejoicing in new life. After a long forty days of preparation, the feast we have all been waiting for has finally arrived – Happy Easter! Christ conquered death and opened to us the doors of eternal life; indeed, this is a celebration much more than chocolate eggs and treasure hunts. Rewinding quickly to
the crucifixion, Jesus took upon Himself the punishment for all the sins of mankind. He was then put to death and for two days, all hope was lost. The game-changer was on the third day; Jesus rose from the dead. The resurrection of Christ is essentially the peak point of Christianity. It embodies the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament, fulfills the promises found in the Old Testament and confirms the divinity of the Son of God. It also echoes the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity. What does this mean for us? In one of his homilies last month, Pope Francis spoke of “parked Christians”. In other words, Christians who have come to a standstill in their journey towards heaven. The Holy Father challenges each one of us, who has received the “first gift of grace” through Baptism, to move forward and take risks. In a post-resurrection world, we ought to be the voice of hope in broken societies saying again and again, He has risen!
