Kingdom Revelator Australia – Issue 102
Jesus says in the Gospel of John chapter 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” What is this peace that Jesus is talking about? In life we often think that once the problem that we are going through is over, then we will be at peace. On the contrary as soon as one problem ends, the next starts. Hence, we are always in the pursuit of peace in life.
In the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 12, we see that Peter was imprisoned by King Herod who, wanting to please the Jews, was going to put him to the same fate as James the brother of John. The very night before Herod was going to execute his plans, we are told that Peter was sleeping between two soldiers while chained and guarded by four squads of soldiers, how could he ever sleep on such a night? Was he not scared? How could he sleep in peace on a night like that? Probably because he experienced the same peace that Jesus talked about in the Gospel. This is the peace that Jesus gives. Something that even the problems of thee world could not take away from him. He had such trust in the Lord that even in this imminent threat Peter slept peacefully not worrying about the outcome or the future.
This is the peace into which Jesus is calling us today. He wants us to enjoy the peace He is so willing to give. So, let’s put our trust in Him and sleep like Peter.
