“No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar or puts it under a bed; rather, one puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light” Luke 8:16. Those of us who have had an encounter with Jesus, are like the lit lamps, who want to share it with others so that those in darkness can come to the light. Jesus says in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
If we don’t share what we know, then how will the light spread? To think that it’s the duty of others to spread the Gospel is like putting our lit
lamps underneath the bed. When we are with others, rather than discussing politics or current affairs, let us discuss the love of God, Jesus and His unending love for mankind. Every baptised Christian has a duty to spread the Gospel. The Lord is speaking to each one of us when He said, “the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few”.
In Mark 16:15, when Jesus says, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation”, He reminds us that He needs our hands, feet and mouth to help save souls. Be willing to be His powerful instrument that brings peace to our troubled world of today. Jesus told the seventy-two disciples who returned after their mission, rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Be on fire for Jesus and His Gospel…the Gospel of love!
