Kingdom Revelator – Issue 19
Welcome to the Advent edition of Kingdom Revelator. Advent is a time of preparation, and refers to the last four Sundays, before Christmas. It is a time when we look forward to the
joys of celebrating the birth of our Saviour, we thank the Lord that He has come into our lives through grace and the Sacraments and we look forward to when He will come again at the end of time. Imagine if the Queen of England or the President of the United States announced that they were coming to visit your home. Think of the preparations that you would make. You would look around and notice rooms that needed redecorating. You would make sure that everything was clean and tidy and ready for such an important visitor. It’s the same with our spiritual life. Advent is a time to prepare ourselves for Christ’s coming in a deeper way into our lives and should be like Lent, a time of repentance, fasting and abstinence. Then we can truly enjoy and celebrate the twelve days of Christmas from Christmas Day until Epiphany. Let us remember this when we get caught up in the flurry of present buying, the sending of cards and the social events in the run up to Christmas. These are not bad things in themselves because it is good to be generous and to give gifts, to reconnect with old friends and to celebrate the birth of Jesus. But the real celebrations should begin on Christmas Day when we thank God that He became one of us. He entered
the world as a tiny helpless baby, totally dependent on His mother Mary and He did it because He loves us and knew that it was the only way that we could be redeemed. He truly is an amazing God!
