Kingdom Revelator – Issue 22
Welcome to this edition of Kingdom Revelator. This month we celebrate Easter, and we wish all our readers a happy and blessed Easter time. Easter is a celebration of new life in Christ and His victory over sin. As Jesus defeated death and rose again, we can all have new life in Christ through our Baptism and we have the hope of eternal life with Christ in Heaven. I read a story recently which helped me understand the message of Easter. Bobby was a shy and sensitive boy. He struggled with his school work and was unusually small for his age. His classmates teased him, calling him ‘Baby Bobby’. He tried to make friends with the other boys but as he was not very sporty they would laugh when he tripped over the football or was left behind when they ran away. Bobby longed to be accepted, he would have loved to have been part of the happy group who played together each day. He did not
choose to be different, he just was. One day their teacher told them the Easter story. Then she gave each boy a box and told them to go outside and find something that represented new life to put in their boxes. The children were excited and ran around the school grounds, gathering their symbols. When they returned to the classroom, they put the boxes on a table and the teacher began to open them one by one. The first one contained a flower, the next one a bud, another one held some leaves, which all symbolised new life. When the teacheropened Bobby’s box there was nothing inside. The other children started laughing, sniggering to each other, “Baby Bobby has done it again! There’s nothing there! He is so stupid!” Suddenly Bobby looked up and said to the teacher, “I did get it right. In the story you said that the tomb was empty!” The classroom was silent. And a miracle happened that day. The children started to respect Bobby. They took him in and he was set free from the ‘tomb’ of his differentness. We sometimes have tombs of selfishness, pride, jealousy, addiction or hatred that we are struggling to escape from. So this Easter time, let us break free from those tombs with the help of Jesus Christ. He will set us free! Let us also receive the Sacraments to strengthen our faith and celebrate Easter as a new person in Christ.
